About this Sacred Grove

It is located on Melli - Jorethang road in South Sikkim. The grove is smaller in area as compared to other
sacred groves and is sparsely forested. The importance is given to the Ficus religiosa tree which is attached to the giant boulder.

The history of the grove dates back to the time before the existence of the Melli-Jorethang road. The temple
was established in the year of 1940. There was a large paddy field which was completely damaged
and fragmented by the historical flood of the year 1968, after the flood the landscape was completely
transformed. Large boulders along with Ficus tree gave the area the divine impression. Animal sacrifices
were prevalent during the earlier days but at present people only offer milk and fruits.
